Day 2 at Tombstone RV Park
Woke up to a beautiful sunny day, temperatures in the low 80’s F, you gotta love it. We spent most of the day getting acquainted with the park, doing needed house cleaning, walking some of the trails; it feels so good to have walking trails to explore again. There are areas to walk to the dogs on leash and we can walk the dogs off leash on the trails. We do not allow Cookie to be off leash, as she has not learned to come on command, Oreo loves to have the freedom to run down the path and run back to us once again. The park elevation is 4000’ and the highest mountain in the Dragoon range is 7518’ so not the Rockies but still very pretty. The park is very well kept, roads are hard packed pebbles, no dust when vehicles drive by, which was a problem in many parks we stopped at along the way. The sites are all gravel, with a cement pad, which lines up nicely with our front steps, and there are various types of plants between each site, unfortunately, most of the plants have not survived at our site but it doesn’t really matter, we have fantastic views of the Dragoon Mountains and the Cochise Stronghold. Our winter rate is reasonable, includes, water, sewer, cable TV, and WiFi, electric and an extra WiFi account (we require an account for each computer) we pay extra for each month. The park itself is about 10 miles from Tombstone 20 miles from Sierra Vista, 70 miles from Tucson and about 30 miles from Benson. The San Pedro River is a couple of miles down the road on the way to Tombstone; of course, it is pretty much dry. The sites are 40’ by 80’ so nice and roomy with wide roads. Amenities at this park are many including, indoor shuffleboard, ping-pong, darts, exercise and weight equipment, heated enclosed pool and spa, library, horseshoes, bocce ball, billiards table, volleyball, pitch and put, and many social activities. We were given the schedule for the week upon arrival and will receive that information each week while here, the park staff are friendly and helpful, appears to be a very well run park. A good day of relaxing and settling in our winter home.
