Our first social gathering at our Winter home

Today is a beautiful day, warm and sunny, with a slight breeze; we are attending a Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner at 2:30 in honour of Vets, specifically those who served on submarines, which has been held for many years at the park. The park supplies turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and guests bring a side dish; we are taking Potato Salad (there was a sign up sheet in the office with a list of different food we sign up for Potato Salad. I finish preparing, while Woody does some shopping. He arrives home as I am doing up the dishes and we just have time to walk the dogs before we leave. A model submarine on a trailer is coming to the park, which is led by the Legion Riders (a group of motorcycle riders), they have flags flying from their bikes, Woody saw them on the highway on his way home, but we missed their arrival at the park, so no pictures! The dinner was awesome, there were so many different foods to choose from, and of course a fantastic array of deserts. One of those meals when one would love to take home many doggie bags! Chatting with and listening to the vets was educational and fun, to watch the camaraderie among all the vets was so special.

The dinner was casual with an air of formality including tolling of the bell.

There were 4 tables of food!

There were about 100 people in attendance.

We arrived home about 4:30 pm bringing home some salad, there were many leftovers as usual with a pot luck meal, everyone took something home with them, it was an enjoyable gathering.
Excited dogs that needed to go out for a good walk greeted us, and after stuffing ourselves, a walk sure would feel good for us as well. We spent a quiet evening retiring for the night fairly early.
