Jam Session with pictures

The highlight of our day was attending the Jam Session at 6:30 pm in the park recreation hall, the first one of the season. This is a gathering of musicians from three parks in the area and some local folk that entertain at the three parks every week. It is very informal, and very entertaining. The park supplies popcorn, coffee, juice and ice tea, or you may bring your own beverage and snack. There is a donation bucket set up, the donations are used to buy phone cards for the soldiers overseas so a very worthy cause and we applaud the musicians for their time, the park owner and staff for donating their time, coordinating the purchasing of the cards, making popcorn, etc., and the facility. Most musicians sing, play guitar, two of which play 12 string guitars, 1 keyboard, and a Zither, the music is mostly western tunes, old and new. The musicians, sing, and share some jokes, or stories, and the audience is invited to sing along for some of the older well-known songs. We had such an enjoyable time, listening, singing along and visiting folks during intermission, we will not miss a Jam Session while living here in the park.

The musicians, I think there were 13.

Owner of the park, John, he is in his mid 80's and has a marvelous voice, wonderful personality and very knowledgeable of Cochise County.

John, singing with another musician Mary Kaye, they sing very well together.

The gentleman in the dark shirt and black hat along with wife drive from Wilcox for these sessions which is about an hour's drive.

Not sure who the blonde lady is but on the right is Ann, she and her husband work camp here, are the activity planners / coordinators, Ann also works in the office and her husband works in the maintenace area.

This gentleman has a good voice, and comes from one of the other parks in the area.

Mary Kaye has an awesome voice and is a great entertainer.
The session lasts about two hours, the time passes very quickly, it is so cool to have entertainment in our park. We visit with others before we leave and thank the musicians as well as the staff who organize, particiapate and look after everything allowing the rest of us to just sit back and enjoy!
