Leaving Dave's today

Well the day has come, we do have to leave, it is with regret and heavy heart that we pack up and prepare to leave. The time spent with Dave, Randi and family has been so enjoyable. The area is beautiful, so different than most of the places we visit with the small mountains, narrow roads, communities tucked among the hills, gorgeous flowering trees, and neat little restaurants tucked along the roads.

Dave’s nephew Eric dropped by to bid us farewell, thank you Eric, was sure a pleasure visiting with you again. We had a farewell beer with Dave after all was packed up, hitched and ready to roll, then off down the road we went.

The last picture taken at Dave's, thank you Dave for taking that picture!

Got to the bottom of the hill, with Dave ahead to make sure there was not any traffic as the distance one can see upon entering the secondary country road is not far enough to safely pull our big rig onto the secondary highway. On the opposite side of the road is the Woodworking shop that Woody had visited a few times ( and we made some purchases) when the owner (Gideon) saw us parked at the bottom of Dave’s driveway, he came riding over on his bike to say good-bye, he also had a look at our home, what a great fellow he is. We said our final goodbyes, Dave waived us out onto the secondary road and off we went.

The road leading away from Dave's heading for the Interstate.
Our plan was to drive to Cambridge, Ohio that day as we knew it would be hard to leave and getting away early would just not happen! We had made plans to meet with Richard at a mall at St. Claresville, OH; he had a used bow that we were interested in purchasing for me. We met, grabbed a quick bite to eat, purchased the bow and said our farewells, it was pouring rain so didn’t get any pictures, thank you Richard for making the long drive to meet us, allowing us one more quick visit as we headed back to Alberta. The rain came down so hard most of the trip we ended up travelling no more than 40 mph due to visibility issues, the rain thankfully let up and then stopped shortly before we reached the Spring Valley Campground in Cambridge, OH. We arrived later than planned but we set up and had a good sleep, relaxed a bit in the morning before heading on to Springfield, OH where we were stopping to visit with friends. Sure happy we had planned two short driving days, as we were emotionally and physically exhausted, leaving Dave’s was difficult, so hard to leave good friends, knowing you won’t see them anytime again real soon, driving in that rain was not fun.
