Rice Family visit

We spent the morning quietly, accomplishing a few tasks towards our return trip to Alberta. We intended to leave tomorrow but altered our plan after Randi said she had heard flood warnings on the radio. We checked out the warnings on the internet and the warning/watch was in effect until Monday evening. Dave and Woody will hunt again then on Tuesday morning, weather looks okay for Tuesday so now will leave on Wednesday allows a little time for the ground to dry out and the creeks and rivers to recede. Rained steady (at times it just pounded down) from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning, the ground is saturated.

We all enjoyed the awesome company of (paridgerunner) Paul Rice, wife Judy, Eric Rice, (Eric) wife Lois and their two children Tyler and Elizabeth for the afternoon.

Paul keeping Master Chef Dave entertained, as well as the rest of the gang telling stories.

Eric and Lois, your children are delightful, was a privilege to meet the entire Rice clan.

Totally enjoyed our visit despite the weather, cool and rainy but Dave did manage to BBQ some burgers and hot dogs thanks to the carport. Woody and I made potato salad, and made up the burgers, Lois and Judy brought homemade pumpkin rolls, fresh strawberries, desert shells, whipped cream for yummy strawberry shortcake and watermelon, a surprise for us! Thank you so much, very thoughtful and considerate of you!

Elizabeth and Tyler meeting Oreo.

After lunch, we continued visiting, with lots of storytelling taking place between the fellows! Yes, the girls chatted but it was plain the boys are much better storytellers, (Laughing) Too soon it was time to say farewell, felt bad you had to drive 2 ½ hours home in the pouring rain, not very pleasant driving, and glad you all made it home safely. Paul, Eric, and family we appreciated you making the drive for the long-awaited meeting of our families. Certainly was our pleasure to meet and visit with all of you.
